The Law Officer license plate is available to all commissioned and retired law enforcement officers. The license plate is available through the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles. Each license plate also collects $25 per year for the Louisiana Law Enforcement Memorial which honors the lives and memories of louisiana police officers, deputy sheriffs, state troopers, correctional officers, and federal agents killed in the line of duty.
Can be issued to automobiles/vans, private use trucks up to 16,000 lbs., and private buses (motor home).
Additional ordering details: Applicant must submit proof of prior or active commission in a law enforcement agency for at least two consecutive years. This proof is required at initial issuance and each renewal, plus copy of current registration, proof of Police Officer Standards training completion and proof of insurance.
